Prevention is better than cure – this philosophy over arches all modern medicine, and the same is true in aesthetics. Anti-wrinkle injections can be used to prevent lines and reduce them once they have set in. Whether you have noticed lines around your eyes, frown or forehead or want prevent them from developing, anti-wrinkle injections may be the solution. The art of treating intelligently with Botox is a skill that few possess – Freezing a face is not hard to achieve but to truly assess the facial structures and create tailored outcomes requires a detailed studying of facial anatomy and years of practise to refine the craft.

Medical applications of anti-wrinkle treatment

Hyperhidrosis
Sweating is a normal bodily function to regulate our temperature, but excessive sweating can be embarrassing. Using anti-wrinkle injections we can safely moderate how much sweating occurs by blocking over production in the sweat glands, commonly in the underarms and face.

Migraine
All migraine sufferers know that this can be a challenge to manage and usually multiple approaches are required from medication to physiotherapy. Anti wrinkle injections delivered in a very specific way can be incredibly effective in relieving pain. This treatment is super specialist and should only be delivered by highly trained members of the team.

I offer a no obligation consultation when all your questions can be answered and tailored advice can be discussed. A complimentary review 2 – 4 weeks later gives you the opportunity to fine tune your results, if required, to ensure you get the exact results you want.

“Joanna is the only person I trust with my face. She has an incredible aesthetic sense and thorough understanding of which subtle adjustments will make you look like the best version of yourself – never frozen or overdone in that artificial way you can spot a mile off. I was nervous when I started treatments, but now I really look forward to my next appointment. My friends say I’m glowing, and I really am!”

What does anti-wrinkle treatment involve?

After a thorough facial and anti-ageing assessment, a series of micro-injections are used to target the muscles which cause your wrinkles. The procedure itself will take 5- 10 minutes.

Are anti-wrinkle injections safe?

OnaBotulinum Toxin A is a medical grade purified protein and has been compared to penicillin due to its versatility in treating many different problems and because it is an organic product derived from a common bacterium. It has been used in many different applications throughout the last 5 decades of medical care. The risks are extremely low if administered properly by a qualified doctor, dentist or nurse, since Botox does not spread to other areas of your body.
Contraindications:
You will not be able to have Botox if you are pregnant or breast feeding.
Side effects:
The common side effects of Botox are short-lived including redness of the injection site or bruising. Rarely, a temporary headache is experienced which is self-limiting and a droopy brow may occur if treatment is incorrectly placed. The latter can be relieved with prescription eye drops.
After care:
You should avoid alcohol, exercise, sunbeds, saunas and facials for 24 hours after treatment. Moving the facial muscles immediately after the procedure helps it to take effect.

How long do anti-wrinkle injections last?

The typical quoted length is 3-4 months but this varies enormously between individuals based on multiple factors such as how long you’ve been having treatment. Treatments for medical use of anti-wrinkle injections often last closer to 6 months.

Anything else I should know?

OnaBotulinum toxin A is a prescription drug and should be treated as such – delivery should only be carried out by a registered medical practitioner who thoroughly examines you, prescribes the medication and tailors the dosing to your needs.
